Six qualities that shape our practice
Advice in writing
You receive a written advisory letter, not just a verbal summary. This gives you a clear reference for your own decisions and for family discussions that may follow.
Pension law only
We do not practise general law and take pension instructions as a secondary matter. Pension, CPF and retirement estate law is the full extent of our work.
No manufactured urgency
We do not press clients to decide quickly. Consultations allow time for questions, and clients are encouraged to reflect before instructing us to proceed.
Stated fees, no billing surprises
Each service carries a fixed fee stated before the engagement begins. There are no hourly rates, and incidental correspondence within an active matter is not billed separately.
Family-inclusive consultations
Where the client finds it helpful, spouses or adult children may attend consultations. This is especially relevant for estate and planning matters that affect more than one person.
Singapore regulatory depth
We maintain current familiarity with CPF Board procedures, MOM retirement policy and Singapore's PDPA as applied to pension and estate matters.
In More Detail
Each advantage examined
Professional expertise in pension law
Singapore's pension framework is composed of several distinct parts — CPF in its various accounts, legacy defined-benefit government pension schemes, employer-sponsored arrangements, and the overlay of trust and estate law. Few law firms focus exclusively on this area. Our lawyers have spent their careers within it, and that sustained focus translates into a level of familiarity with CPF Board procedures, applicable legislation, and relevant case precedent that a generalist practice is unlikely to match.
- Deep knowledge of CPF Ordinary, Special, MediSave and Retirement accounts
- Familiarity with pre-CPF defined-benefit pension schemes
- Experience representing clients before CPF Board and in mediation
A measured, documented process
Our engagement process is structured to avoid misunderstanding. We begin with a consultation to understand the client's circumstances, then review documents, form our view, and communicate it in writing. Clients know where matters stand at each stage — not through status calls that offer little substance, but through written updates that record what has been done and what comes next.
- Initial consultation, document review, written advisory — a clear sequence
- Progress communicated in writing throughout
- Clients retain all documents produced during the engagement
Client service and data protection
All client documents and personal data are held on secured systems with access limited to the lawyers handling the matter. Communications by email are conducted on an encrypted practice management platform. We do not use client information for any purpose other than the matter for which it was provided. Clients may also attend their consultations by video where in-person attendance is not convenient.
- Secure document management, PDPA-compliant
- Video consultation available for those outside the CBD or overseas
- Two-working-day response commitment on written enquiries
Clear, fixed-fee pricing
The cost of each service is stated before any commitment is made. The Pension Entitlement Review is SGD 220; Pension Dispute Representation begins at SGD 480; the Retirement Estate and Pension Planning service is SGD 360. If a matter requires work beyond what is covered by the agreed fee, we discuss this with the client before continuing. Clients are not invoiced for brief correspondence or short telephone updates within an active matter.
- No hourly billing — fixed fees for defined scopes of work
- Scope changes discussed before they affect fees
- Initial enquiry and preliminary conversation at no charge
Outcomes measured by clarity and resolution
We do not represent our work in terms of win rates or outcomes we cannot promise. What we can say is that clients who complete a Pension Entitlement Review leave with a written assessment of their position — something most did not have before. Those we represent in disputes are kept fully informed throughout, and the matters we handle are prepared with care regardless of their complexity. That consistency of preparation is, in our view, the best basis for a satisfactory conclusion.
- Every engagement produces a written record for the client
- Dispute matters prepared thoroughly from first instruction
- Clients informed of realistic prospects, not managed expectations

What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive features of our practice
Written advisory letters as standard
Every substantive engagement produces a written advisory letter. This is not a summary of what was discussed — it is a considered legal document setting out our assessment and recommended next steps.
Consultations scheduled with adequate time
We do not double-book or compress initial consultations. One hour is standard, and where more time is needed, it is arranged without additional charge at the initial stage.
Evidence-led dispute approach
We build pension dispute cases on documentary evidence and regulatory precedent. Our approach is measured and thorough rather than adversarial — which tends to serve clients better in Board and mediation settings.
Pension and estate aligned in one engagement
Our Retirement Estate and Pension Planning service is one of the few in Singapore that addresses CPF nominations, beneficiary designations, wills and lasting powers of attorney within a single coordinated engagement.
