1. Introduction

Pesara Counsel ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the personal data of everyone who engages with our legal services or visits our website. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal data in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). • CPF account information relevant to your matter
  • Details shared during consultations and in written correspondence
  • Technical data from website visits (IP address, browser type, pages visited)

We collect data only for the purposes stated at the time of collection or as reasonably necessary to carry out the legal services you have requested.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your personal data is used to:

  • Provide legal services — reviewing, advising, and representing clients on pension matters
  • Communicate with you about your matter and respond to enquiries
  • Comply with our legal and professional obligations under Singapore law
  • Improve the quality and delivery of our legal services

We do not sell, rent, or exchange your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal data under the following bases: your consent (for enquiry forms and website analytics); the performance of a legal services contract (for active engagements); and our legitimate professional interest in maintaining adequate records of advice given. Where applicable, we process data to comply with our obligations under Singapore law, including the Legal Profession Act.

5. Data Retention

Client files and correspondence are retained for a minimum of seven years from the date an engagement closes, in accordance with Law Society of Singapore guidelines. Website enquiry data not resulting in an engagement is retained for twelve months. Technical website data is retained for up to twenty-four months.

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

We share personal data only in the following circumstances:

  • With the CPF Board, MOM, or other regulatory bodies as required or authorised by your matter
  • With professional service providers engaged to support our practice (e.g. document management systems) under strict confidentiality obligations
  • Where required by law or a court order
  • Where you have provided explicit consent

7. Data Protection Measures

Client documents and personal data are stored on access-controlled systems with encryption at rest. Email communications with clients use a practice management platform with transport-layer encryption. Physical documents are stored in secured premises. Only lawyers and staff directly involved in a client's matter have access to the relevant data. We review our security arrangements periodically.

8. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to support basic functionality and, where consent is given, for analytics. For full details, please see our Cookie Policy.

As a data subject under the PDPA, you have the right to:

  • Access personal data held about you by us
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • Withdraw consent to the use of your personal data (subject to legal professional obligations)
